Mr. Rodney Dickerson

Resource Advisor

DLA Research and Development

Mr. Rodney “Rock” Dickerson is the resource advisor for Defense Logistics Agency Research and Development, responsible for execution of its $100M budget. He manages and advises DLA R&D senior management on resource execution and programming and provides the financial oversight of allocated Program Budget Review requirements which includes funding issues and resource commitments in the R&D Program Management Office. R&D fosters innovation in logistics and supply chain management with programs including castings, forgings, batteries, additive manufacturing, military uniforms, combat rations, micro-electronics, energy, and storage and distribution. Prior to joining the R&D team, he managed business operations and resources for the Mission Support Directorate in DLA Logistics Operations.   

Mr. Dickerson attended the University of Alabama on a four-year Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps scholarship. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering and received his commission as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force in May 1989. He earned a Master of Aeronautical Science degree in Aviation and Aerospace Management from Embry Riddle University in 1993. He served in a variety of positions during his 20-year military career, including aircraft/munitions maintenance officer, munitions accountable systems officer, maintenance supervisor, program element monitor and acquisition professional. He has extensive command experience at the squadron, wing, major command and Air Staff levels.   

He completed Air Command and Staff College, is fully certified in aircraft/munitions maintenance and is DAWIA Level III certified in Program Management. Mr. Dickerson retired from the Air Force in November 2009 as a lieutenant colonel.
