Commander Thomas T. Poe is a native of LeRoy, Michigan. He graduated from Davenport University in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 2006 with a Bachelor of Business Administration. He later earned a master’s in business administration focused on financial management from the Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, California in 2018.
Commander Poe reported in May 2023 as the Director, Material Budget Department (N83) at Naval Supply Systems Command, Weapons System Support, Philadelphia. He is now the Competency Lead (DAWIA Designated Approval Authority) for Business-Financial Management for the entire NAVSUP Systems Command.
His operational assignments include serving as the Retail Operations Officer and HAZMAT Officer, USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70), Norfolk, VA; Air Routing Officer (N3) and Commodities Officer (N4), Commander, Logistics Forces, United States Naval Forces Central Command / Commander Task Force Five Three (CTF 53), Manama, Bahrain; and Supply Officer, USS Lake Champlain (CG 57), San Diego, CA.
Ashore, his assignments include Readiness Assistant (N41), inaugural Team lead for Supply and Habitability on the TYCOM Material Inspection Team (N45), Commander, Naval Surface Forces, U.S. Pacific Fleet (COMNAVSURFPAC), San Diego, CA; Aviation Financial and Budgeting Officer, Office of Special Projects (OSP), Washington, D.C., and as the Flying Hour Program (FHP) Budget and Programming Analyst (N801), Commander, United States Pacific Fleet (COMPACFLT), Pearl Harbor, HI.
Commander Poe’s qualifications include Naval Aviation Supply Officer, Surface Warfare Supply Corps Officer, is a certified Business Financial Management (BUS-FM) Advanced (AK4), Life Cycle Logistics (LCL) Foundational (AL1), and Department of Defense Financial Manager Level II (NS2). He is an Acquisition Professional Community member and has completed joint professional military education from the Naval War College. His personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (1), Navy Commendation Medal (5), Navy Achievement Medal (1), Army Achievement Medal (1), and various unit and service awards.
He has been married to his wife Katie Poe, Esq. since 2015. They reside in Cinnaminson, New Jersey with their two children, Truman (7) and Archer (4).
