Logistics center welcomes new leader, promotes outgoing commander to second star

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Navy Rear Adm. John Palmer assumed command of the Defense Supply Center Columbus and Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime from Rear Adm. Michelle Skubic during a ceremony June 27 at the Operations Center Auditorium.

Navy Rear Admiral John King passes the organization’s flag to Navy Capt. Justin Debord, chief of staff, as he relinquishes command of DLA Land and Maritime to James McClaugherty (right). McClaugherty will serve as acting commander until the newly-identified Navy Rear Admiral Michelle Skubic arrives on station.

King’s ship sets sail after more than 30 years in the Navy

COLUMBUS, Ohio — After more than 30 years serving as a naval officer, outgoing Land and Maritime Commander Navy Rear Admiral John King King officially retired and is transitioning to the next chapter in his life. “It’s just been unbelievable how fast my time here at Land and Maritime has flown by and I have to tell you I’ve been extremely fortunate to work with such an inspired group of professionals,” said King.
