Aviation commander shares mission, economic impact with Chesterfield Chamber

By Amy Clement DLA Aviation

Defense Logistics Agency Aviation Commander Air Force Brig. Gen. Linda Hurry served as the keynote speaker during the Chesterfield Chamber of Commerce monthly meeting Jan. 10, 2018 held at the Chesterfield Career and Technical Center Hull Street Campus in Chesterfield County, Virginia.

Hurry discussed DLA’s and DLA Aviation’s missions and how small businesses can find out information to do business with DLA.  She also touched on Defense Supply Center Richmond, Virginia’s economic impact in the local region and state.

DLA Aviation is DLA’s combat logistics and aviation demand and supply chain manager, supporting more than 1.2 million national stock number items, depot-level repairable acquisitions and industrial retail supply. Its main mission is to procure repair parts for both fixed- and rotary-wing aircraft; procure bottled gases and cylinders; and oversee DLA’s green products initiative, harnessing and recycling elements that would be hazardous to the environment.

DLA Aviation also manages the DoD map repository of aeronautical, digital, hydrographic, and topographic map products and operates the federal government’s only industrial plant equipment facility providing a full range of maintenance services to include repair, rebuilding and acquisition of all types of industrial machinery, including lathes and milling machines.
