Defense Supply Center Richmond, Virginia, employees attended a Safety Stand Down Oct. 23.
David Gibson, site director, Defense Logistics Agency Installation Operations Richmond, opened activities following the DLA Aviation Commander Air Force Brig. Gen. Linda Hurry’s Town Hall in the Frank B. Lotts Conference Center.
Gibson thanked employees for their continued involvement in workplace safety. He gave special thanks to the center’s Leadership Working Group for their suggestion to install lighted crosswalk signs across the center to increase crosswalk safety awareness.
Other key personnel who shared information with employees during the Lotts opening brief included Neena Scott, a quality assurance specialist and member of the DSCR Safety Team and Vonya Lofties, chief, Safety and Occupational Health Division, DLA Installation Operations Richmond.
Scott reviewed processes for reporting potential hazard/near miss incidents through the Enterprise Safety Application Management System and service order request. Lofties spoke about the center’s upcoming Voluntary Protection Program STAR re-certification by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration in 2019. Defense Supply Center Richmond received initial certification in 2016.
Following the opening, employees visited Safety Day informational displays in the conference center breezeway and participated in Safety Day activities within their directorates.
