COLUMBUS, Ohio –
Morale, Welfare and Recreation’s Family Services Program hosted a Free Family Summer Fun Reboot seminar May 14 at the Red Roof Pavilion in Mission Park on the Defense Supply Center Columbus.
The seminar was presented by Michiel DeVito, program manager for MWR FSP and Jenna Landuyt of Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Columbus.
“Having the event outdoors was an added benefit for associates that were taking advantage of the beautiful weather as they dropped in to see what was happening, adding to the participation numbers,” Devito said.
More than 50 associates came out during their lunch break to learn about opportunities and events happening this summer.
During the seminar, DeVito provided a number of resources to the attendees on free and low cost Columbus activities for the summer. Participants received printed calendars, catalogues and flyers for the local activities as well as information on DSCC MWR facilities and activities.
Landuyt’s presentation was an overview of Ohio State Parks, the facilities available at the parks and special attention to the parks that would provide great experiences using MWR Outdoor Rental equipment.
“ODR and the Ohio Department representative are planning to partner in future ODR outings,” DeVito concluded.
Adjacent to the Red Roof Pavilion, MWR hosted an ODR Roadshow featuring a number of recreational items available for rent and a food truck. The recreational items display included a camping trailer, tent, canoes, cornhole games, towable grill and kayaks.
