DLA Distribution San Joaquin welcomes new executive officer

Navy Lt. Carissalina Caliste joined the Defense Logistics Agency Distribution San Joaquin, California command leadership team as the executive officer in December. She previously served as the assistant supply officer and principal assistant for logistics onboard the USS Essex (LHD 2).

“It’s such an honor to have been selected for the executive officer position for DLA Distribution San Joaquin,” commented Caliste. “I have a lot of respect for the support that DLA provides to the warfighters and I am looking forward to bringing my experience and skills to the team to help build upon their impressive reputation.” 

Caliste is a native of Los Angeles, California. She enlisted in the U.S. Navy as an undesignated Airman, and completed Airman Apprenticeship Training in Pensacola, Florida. She was selected for Officer Candidate School and commissioned as a naval officer in June 2010. She holds a Master of Arts in Management from Brenau University.

Officer shore assignments include Trident Refit Facility, Kings Bay, Georgia, where she served as the repair of other vessel supply support and food services officer, providing supply support and submarine logistic services to Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay and Naval Support Facility Diego Garcia’s continuous maintenance availabilities. At Naval Technical Center Meridian, Mississippi, Caliste served as the assistant training support officer, technical assistant and security manager. 

Her enlisted shore assignments include Fleet Readiness Center Southwest and Tallil Air Base Iraq where she served as a master collateral duty inspector for aviation support equipment.
  
Officer afloat assignments include USS Winston S. Churchill (DDG 81) as the assistant supply officer. She successfully completed two-unit certification cycles, and a deployment to the fifth and 6th fleet area of responsibility receiving the Battle “E” award. Onboard the USS Essex, she completed a successful deployment with the first Navy and Marine Corps F-35B Lightning II.  

Caliste’s enlisted afloat assignments include Precommissioning Unit Ronald Reagan (CVN 76). She successfully completed the first maiden deployment, contributing to naval operations in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom, as well as two maritime security operations in the Persian Gulf.   

Her personal awards include the Navy Commendation Medal (three awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (three awards), Navy Good Conduct Medal (two awards), Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, Navy Pistol Qualification Medal, and various unit and campaign awards. She is qualified as a Surface and Aviation Warfare Supply Corps Officer.
