SAN DIEGO –
Defense Logistics Agency Distribution San Diego, California, hosted Ricky Davis, director, Portsmouth Naval Shipyard Detachment Point Loma, California, for a High Performance Leadership Engagement Feb. 19.
The purpose of the HPLE is to provide DDDC employees the opportunity to engage in meaningful career and professional development dialogue and receive mentorship from former and/or current senior/executive level civilian or military leaders in an effort to inspire, motivate and teach. Davis’ leadership principles, experiences and insights on the paths he took throughout his over 30 years of government service was well received by the DDDC team during his visit.
DDDC’s command team, led by Navy Capt. Jerome White, commander, escorted Davis on his tour of the facilities. During his visit, Davis met with workforce members, sharing with them his career experiences.
“Earlier you said that it’s important to ask the right questions to the right people, I appreciate that you learned a lot from the subject matter experts,” said Ronald Vann, distribution facilities specialist, DDDC.
“As someone who used to support SUBRON 11 [Submarine Squadron 11 ], it’s refreshing to hear that you are making such strides to listen to sailors’ feedback and include them in the planning process for these intricate availabilities,” said Dierdre Mccall, executive assistant to the commander, DDDC.
