Christie Duke, program analyst for Defense Logistics Agency Aviation's Command Programs Office was recently recognized with a national Combined Federal Campaign Hero Award as a result of the hard work and dedication she put in to making the 2019 CFC campaign a success as campaign co-manager on DSCR.
Federal civilians and military members attached to Defense Supply Center Richmond, Virginia, took advantage of the opportunity to give back by raising more than $81,000 in support of the 2019 Combined Federal Campaign. The season ran from Sept. 9, 2019 through Jan. 12, 2020.
This award is given to individuals who implemented a successful campaign and exemplified excellence throughout the season.
“I am humbled by this recognition,” Duke said. “I share this honor with each and every one of my keyworkers as well as all of the employees, whom, without their dedication I would have never been recognized.”
According to the Combined Federal Campaign of the National Capital Area/Northern Virginia, recognition and appreciation help to build morale and a strong foundation.
While the CFC offers a variety of ways to recognize participants, the national level Hero Award is the highest award a campaign worker can receive.
“Again, I could not have done this alone,” Duke said. “It takes a community, such as DSCR, to make CFC an effective program.”
Through the combined efforts of all of this year’s campaign workers, the CFC was able to raise a total of $2.3 million nationwide to provide continued support to participating charities and organizations.
“I would like to note that Ms. Julie Dudley, associate director, Combined Federal Campaign, South Central Virginia and Albemarle Bay and Ms. Anna Paz, DLA Aviation CFC Co-Campaign Manager, assisted me greatly throughout the 2019 campaign season,” Duke said. “I am happy to state that they will be returning for the upcoming 2020 campaign.”
Due to complications brought about by the coronavirus pandemic, Duke said she received the award in the mail, vice a ceremony.
She also said that the 2020 CFC campaign season is still not finalized because of the pandemic.
“We don’t know how our campaign and kick-off will look this year as we are all adjusting to what many call “our new normal”,” Duke said. “However, we will do our best to get the word out to each and every employee. So stay tuned, because there is so much more to come!”
