Employee Spotlight: Celia Crabbe

By Natalie Skelton, DLA Aviation Public Affairs

Employee spotlight regularly features outstanding non-supervisory personnel from throughout the Defense Logistics Agency Aviation and other DLA employees on Defense Supply Center Richmond, Virginia. Organizational directors may submit names of employees they wish to feature in this column to DLA Aviation Public Affairs.

Name: Celia Crabbe

Organization: DLA Aviation at Richmond.

How long have you worked for DLA: 2 years

What is your job title: Contract Specialist

Describe your job in a sentence or two. As a post award contract specialist, I research and resolve issues that come up with contracts after they have been awarded. This can range anywhere from simple contract modification requests, such as delivery date change/change in administration office, to more complex/technical requests which often involve collaborating with others such as product, resolution , and packaging specialists.

How do you support the warfighter? I support the warfighter by resolving issues that arise with contracts in a timely manner so that contractors can get the material out to the warfighter. This includes tasks such as research, referrals to other specialists, modification drafts and many more.

What do you like most about your job and why? I like being able to support the warfighter, knowing the things we do matter. I also like that it is challenging because you, quite literally, never know what you are going to get in your workload!

What aspect(s) of your current job gives you the most personal satisfaction and why?  The aspect of my job that gives me the most personal satisfaction is being able to help the warfighter because I know the things I do on a daily basis as a part of my job directly impact the success of the warfighter.

What are some of your passions outside of work? I enjoy traveling and experiencing different cultures and reading.

What’s the most thrilling/adventurous thing you have ever done? The most thrilling thing I’ve ever done was skydiving! It is one of those things that is difficult to explain/put into words. Without a doubt, the craziest, most freeing thing I have ever done. It is such a rush of adrenaline and intense (but in a good way), you are sort of “flying” after all. I still can’t believe I did it sometimes!
