By Pam Smith, DLA Aviation Public Affairs Office

Employee spotlight regularly features outstanding non-supervisory personnel from throughout the Defense Logistics Agency Aviation and other DLA employees on Defense Supply Center Richmond, Virginia. Organizational directors may submit names of employees they wish to feature in this column to DLA Aviation Public Affairs.

Name: Wendy Williams

Organization: DLA Aviation's Supplier Operations Commodities Directorate’s Post Award Division

Years of service: 3.5 years

How do you support the warfighter?  As an acquisition specialist, I monitor contracts and make corrections to ensure the vendors deliver on time. I then take the proper actions if they don't. Working in in Post Award is very rewarding because I directly support the warfighter by doing my job, accurately, proficiently, and in a timely manner.

What do you like most about your job and why? I enjoy the research and the complexity of each task. My job requires me to provide the vendor with accurate data fulfill the contract requirements so items can ship on time.

What is your fondest memory of working for DLA Aviation?   My fondest memory of working at DLA Aviation was going through DLA’s Pathways to Career Excellence training program. The entire program was properly designed and set-up for us to learn all that we needed in contracting to be proficient and productive.

If you could speak directly to the warfighters you support, what would you tell them? I would tell them “Thank you for your service and all you do to support our nation.”

Professionally, where do you see yourself five years from now?  In five years, I see myself as a supervisor. I intend to explore areas such as pre-award, post-award, and others to develop wide-ranging skills in contracting so I will be in the best position to lead others.

What are some of your passions outside of work? Some of my passions outside of work are family, church, and my community.

If you had a theme song, what would it be and why?  My theme song would be We are the World’ because I support unity. Humanity requires us to unite for sustainability.
