DLA hosts first Additive Manufacturing Integrated Product Team meeting

By Nancy Benecki DLA Public Affairs

The Defense Logistics Agency held the Additive Manufacturing Integrated Product Team kickoff March 16 at the McNamara Headquarters Complex on Fort Belvoir, Virginia.

“Today’s kickoff started the journey of bringing the DLA Additive Manufacturing Implementation Plan to life,” said Tony Delgado, DLA’s additive manufacturing process integrator.

DLA’s AM Implementation Plan provides the framework for executing DLA tasks outlined in Defense Department Instruction 5000.93.

About 60 people attended the meeting, including representatives from several DLA major subordinate commands. The group defined their responsibilities, mapped resources to activities and identified future steps, Delgado said.

“Moving forward, the IPT will provide unity of effort, which is a key enabler for DLA to support the military services and ultimately the warfighter,” he added.

Agency leaders are interested in and supportive of the IPT, Delgado said.

“For the DLA AM IPT to be successful, we will need to keep our focus on the tasks outlined in the DLA implementation plan, fully commit resources to the IPT, and act with speed so we can usher DLA’s presence into the DOD AM ecosystem,” he said.

People attended the hybrid meeting virtually and in-person, with some traveling from Pennsylvania, Ohio, Maryland and Virginia.
