Name: Jay Holt
Organization: DLA Aviation at Oklahoma City
Years of service: 12 years
What is your job title and what do you do specifically? I work as a material support specialist responsible for the material supporting three different weapons system groups. I use different programs to analyze and research data to acquire the materials needed for the maintenance and production of aircraft.
How do you support the warfighter? My team and I monitor and maintain the stock levels of the materials ensuring they are available at the shop service center here on Tinker Air Force Base.
What do you like most about your job and why? The people I work with are the best part my job. My colleagues have a wealth of knowledge and experience, and their guidance and direction are what makes this job interesting and fun.
What do you see as your biggest challenge right now? Due to our SSC warehouse and offices currently being renovated, we’re experiencing temporary challenges while my team and I are working in a building separate from the material.
Professionally, where do you see yourself five years from now? I have worked in two other positions at DLA before moving up to my current job. I see myself in a supervisory position in the future, hopefully in the same SSC. I feel my strengths are in my relationships with my coworkers and customers, as well as being available to anyone who needs assistance.
What is the most surprising/unexpected thing others don’t know about you? Not many people know that my father and grandfather both worked in the movie industry. My grandfather, Jack Holt, began his career acting in silent movies in the 1920’s and was one of the founding members of the Motion Picture Academy, known now as The Oscars. My father, Tim Holt, acted through the 1940’s and 1950’s, starring in many A-list movies such as Orson Welles’ The Magnificent Ambersons, John Ford’s Stagecoach, and John Houston’s The Treasure of the Sierra Madre.
What are some of your passions outside of work? I love going to Disneyland with my family. We try to go at least once a year and we always have a great time.
