FORT BELVOIR, Va. –
Defense Logistics Agency Energy Europe & Africa welcomed a new commander, Army Lt. Col. Leslie Shipp, during a change of command ceremony on Kleber-Kaserne Army Base in Kaiserslautern, Germany, May 22.
Shipp assumed command from Army Lt. Col. Benverren Fortune who’s been in command since June 2021.
“Thank you to Lt. Col. Ben Fortune, service members, and civilians of DLA Energy Europe & Africa for the warm welcome and smooth transition,” Shipp said. “I look forward to working alongside each of you and building upon this organization's legacy.”
Army Col. Faith Chamberlain, DLA Europe & Africa commander, presided over the ceremony and presented Fortune with the Distinguished Order of Saint Martin from the Association of the Quartermasters, an honor reserved for an elite few whose careers have embodied the spirit, dignity, and sense of sacrifice and commitment epitomized by the Patron Saint Martin.
The DLA Energy regional office provides comprehensive energy solutions in both the U.S. European Command and U.S. Africa Command areas of responsibility, as well as into northern Iraq. Its geographic responsibility includes 55.8 million square miles, covering 103 nations in all of Europe and Africa, and extends from 500 miles off the Atlantic coast of the United States to the Pacific coast of Russia. It includes two thirds of the Earth’s coastlines and spans 18 time zones.
