NEW CUMBERLAND, Pa. –
Republic of Korea Navy Capt. Lee, Dong Won toured Defense Logistics Agency Distribution, Korea, July 19. The tour and briefing provided an overview of DLA Distribution, Korea facilities on Camp Carroll, their concept of support, and how the distribution center ties into the overall support to the warfighter on the Korean peninsula.
“Our modernization efforts within the warehouse are the backbone of our support to both US troops and our Korean allies,” said Justano Newbold, deputy commander, DDDK.
As part of the tour, Lee received an overview of the palletize racks, package racks, vertical lift modules, map section, conveyor system, pilferable cage and the new autonomous material handling equipment capabilities.
The tour also included bulk storage operations, hazardous material storage, and the 463L stacking and unloading conveyor. Lee was given a demonstration of material receipt and how DDDK operates as a theater consolidation and shipping point, a crucial step in maintaining accountability of material and then delivering it to the warfighter.
Lee requested another visit in the future for ROK Chief of Naval Operations, Navy Rear Adm. Admiral Lee Jong-ho to receive the tour as well, as part of the continued allied support between the US and the ROK.
