What is your job title and what do you do specifically? I am an inventory management specialist and I procure aircraft engine parts belonging to the Air Force’s B-1B Lancer, F-15 Eagle, E-3 Sentry and the KC-135R Stratotanker, to name a few. Part of my job is to resolve customer issues and provide status briefings to the customer, but I perform whatever task it takes to keep the supply chain moving.
What do you like most about your job and why? What I appreciate the most about my job is the teamwork within my division and how we can see the impact we have in our day-to-day operations when serving the warfighter and our customers.
What aspect(s) of your current job gives you the most personal satisfaction? Why? The most satisfying aspect of my job is knowing my hard work in procuring surplus material has been successful so the warfighter can continue to operate.
If you could speak directly to the warfighters you support, what would you tell them? If I spoke directly to the warfighter, I would first thank them for their service and dedication. Secondly, I would ask how my agency directly affects them and how we could serve them better.
What are some of your passions outside of work? Some of my passions outside of work include spending time with my family and doing freelance audio engineering work. Audio engineering is where I edit audio books, presentations and other projects for customers. I am also a published author of a suspense-horror story written for a teen audience. It took six months to finish the book and get it published. Writing a book has been a small goal of mine since childhood.
Have you had a mentor that helped you grow in your career? If so who, and how did they help? A previous supervisor helped me the most in my career. He taught me how to effectively lead and support a team. I have taken a lot of his mannerisms and line of thinking with me as I’ve matured.
Who is the most influential person in your life – past or present – and why? Without a doubt, my mother is the most influential person in my life. Her strength and compassion has always been something I personally envy, and her ability to guide me and my brothers by herself is a testament to the lady she is. I absolutely adore her!
