NEW CUMBERLAND, Pa. –
Navy Capt. Andrew Henwood, commander, Defense Logistics Agency Distribution, Susquehanna, Pennsylvania, hosted 12 town halls for DLA Distribution, Susquehanna personnel from Dec. 10 – 19, 2024, on Defense Distribution Center Susquehanna, Pennsylvania, and Naval Support Activity, Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania.
The goal of the town halls served to provide employees with a forum to communicate directly with DLA Distribution, Susquehanna, Pennsylvania, leadership and to receive updates on performance metrics and upcoming initiatives.
“It was of utmost importance to get in front of our teammates and share my perspective on where we are as an organization,” Henwood said. “This provided a venue to discuss what the year ahead holds for us.”
The times, dates and locations of the town halls varied to best accommodate employees’ schedules and work locations. The town hall content focused on culture survey results and planned response, Eastern Distribution Center modernization, Warehouse Management System implementation progress and the fiscal year 2025 resourcing plan. Henwood concluded the meetings by fielding questions from DLA Distribution, Susquehanna employees.
“It was important for us to provide a forum to hear directly from the workforce about the challenges they face daily,” Henwood said. “This way, our leadership team can help remove barriers for the workforce and help them become more productive.”
Henwood also utilized the town halls to recognize outstanding employees.
“Town hall events help promote healthy two-way communication,” said Army 1st Sgt. Rayon Cunningham, senior enlisted leader, DLA Distribution, Susquehanna, Pennsylvania. “I personally enjoyed the interaction and think we all walked away with a clearer picture of the organization, challenges and areas where we can improve.”
