FORT BELVOIR, Va. –
The Defense Logistics Agency director recognized the accomplishments of the workforce during the 57th Annual Employee Recognition Ceremony at the McNamara Headquarters Complex Jan. 23.
In total, over 200 employees earned 51 individual and team awards in 13 categories.
DLA Director Army Lt. Gen. Mark Simerly presided over the ceremony. He praised the award winners and all of DLA’s workforce for the work they do every day for the agency and in support of the warfighter.
“The warfighters we serve around the globe know how DLA brings effective and efficient solutions to the logistics challenges they face. That’s a powerful testament to you, the DLA team,” Simerly said.
He reminded employees to not become complacent, but to continue to reach toward the next solution and raise the bar even higher in the coming year.
Simerly announced the launch of the Innovation Award category for individuals and teams for next year’s program.
“We are looking for teammates who dare to think differently, are willing to embrace unconventional approaches to solve complex problems, achieve successful results by challenging the status quo, and provide innovative solutions for warfighting challenges,” he said.
“I’m confident there are many of you out there who will accept the challenge,” he added.
The director highlighted the agency’s innovative efforts by citing several of the agency’s accomplishments in 2024, from providing humanitarian support to improving data acumen and digital transformation. Sharing several of the agency’s accomplishments over the past year, Simerly highlighted the deployment of the Warehouse Management System at all 63 DLA Disposition Services sites, nine Recruit Training Centers and 22 of 34 DLA Distribution Centers.
Simerly concluded that there was no doubt that 2024 was another impactful year.
“A year in which DLA continued to meet the needs of our warfighting partners and a year during which DLA teammates continued the DLA tradition of excellence,” he said.
