How long have you worked for DLA: 12 years
Are you prior military? Yes. Served 20 years in the U.S. Marine Corps. Was a captain in ground supply.
What is your job title, and what do you do, specifically? As a customer support manager, I represent Fleet Readiness Center East to the DLA Enterprise regarding overall support of the AV-8B, H-53, V-22 and C-130. I ensure support is coordinated in a timely manner to provide service to the fleet.
Why did you decide to work for DLA? I saw the opportunity to continue to support the warfighter after retiring from the Marine Corps.
How do you support the warfighter? By ensuring the material ordered is procured and issued out as soon as possible.
What do you like most about your job? The mission of supporting the warfighter and the diverse people I get to work with.
What is your fondest memory of working for DLA Aviation? The chaos of the first couple of years at DLA Aviation at Cherry Point. We transitioned to Inventory Management and Stock Positioning Spiral II, and we learned about the new system and how to best support FRC East and the warfighter.
Professionally, where do you see yourself five years from now? Ensuring my retirement plan is close to execution!
What are some of your passions outside of work? My family, four kids (two out of the house) and being an elder at our church. Having two kids that are paying their own bills and finding their own ways. As an elder, I enjoy helping our congregation and surrounding community.
Who is the most influential person in your life, either past or present? My parents, they came to the U.S. from Peru and gave my siblings an opportunity to become part of the greatest country in the world!
