Job title: Demand Planner
What do you do? I act as a key link between demand forecasting processes and customer account teams by engaging our customers to understand their needs and then by adjusting historical data and statistical models to produce accurate forecasts. I develop collaborative, enriched demand plans by combining statistical data, customer insights, market intelligence and best practices while continuously analyzing forecast accuracy and participating in strategic meetings to align supply with anticipated demand.
Why did you decide to work for DLA? I applied for several positions within the Defense Department knowing my military orders at Fort Bragg (North Carolina) and time in the Army were coming to an end. DLA was the first organization to contact me and offer a job, making it a natural and timely opportunity to continue serving within the defense community. I found a truly welcoming and supportive environment at DLA, which has fostered a sense of belonging and loyalty, making it a great place to build a lifelong career.
How do you support the warfighter? I make certain my forecasting of critical DLA materiel is accurate and reliable which enables timely procurement and availability of supplies necessary for military operations and readiness.
What is your fondest memory of working for DLA Aviation? My fondest memory is being part of the dedicated team whose teamwork, expertise and perseverance successfully repaired the U.S. Marine Corps AV-8 Harrier crashed . Through our actions, we were able to show our commitment to restoring critical assets and supporting national defense.
What are your best practices for achieving goals or accomplishing tasks? I start with small and manageable objectives to build momentum. I then maintain a consistent focus on the end goal while practicing resilience to overcome any setbacks and adapting strategies as needed to ensure progress.
What are some of your passions outside of work? Beach life, good times, tan lines, tequila lime and sunshine! My favorite vacations are with family and friends in Outer Banks, North Carolina.
Who is the most influential person in your life, either past or present? My father influenced me the most and remains my number one dude! He retired after forty years of government service, and his dedication, work ethic and commitment still inspire me today.
What is your favorite military aircraft? My favorite military aircraft is the F-14 Tomcat, largely because of its iconic status and the influence of the movie Top Gun.
