Simerly visits DLA Disposition Services

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. – Defense Logistics Agency Director Army Lt. Gen. Mark Simerly and DLA Senior Enlisted Advisor Army Command Sgt. Maj. Petra Casarez visited DLA Disposition Services headquarters Sept. 19 to thank employees and discuss ongoing initiatives.

While Simerly has visited Battle Creek previously, this marked Casarez’s first official visit to the historic Hart-Doyle-Inouye Federal Center.

The director opened the town hall—viewed by more than 500 employees—by expressing appreciation for the workforce and recognizing five exceptional teammates:

  • Jeffrey Nofzinger
  • Chris Bradford
  • Christopher Albers
  • Michael Plants
  • Larry Mullens

He then provided updates on the Annual Operating Plan, annual guidance, and transformation efforts, while continuing to express gratitude to the DLA Disposition Services team throughout the 90-minute session.

“We are proud of the DLA Disposition Services workforce and look forward to where you will take the Disposition Services enterprise in the future,” said Simerly.

Following the session, Simerly and Casarez joined major subordinate command leaders for the Annual Operating Plan review meeting, led by Michael Cannon, director of DLA Disposition Services.

“If you say Disposition Services, you’re not doing justice to the scope of the mission you all do, due to the complexity of the mission set,” Simerly emphasized.

Before departing, Simerly and Casarez met with members of the Law Enforcement Support Office to thank them for their recent annual training seminar success and their rapid response to a Presidential Executive Order.

“I really appreciate what you’ve achieved of late. I know it’s been a lot of work—internal and external—with the states and with our federal partners,” said Simerly, before presenting coins to the LESO director and several outstanding employees.
