DLA Distribution Corpus Christi, Texas, transportation agent Mary Frances Alvarez has been selected as one of DLA Distribution’s Employees of the Quarter for fourth quarter fiscal year 2015.

“Ms. Alvarez distinguished herself this quarter through diligence, an ever-present willing attitude to ensure customer support, leadership, and her initiative to take on additional tasks,” said supervisor Tracey Miles.

As the transportation lead, Alvarez ensures that the daily responsibilities with the Transportation Office are effectively managed, and ensures that all processes are accomplished accurately and expeditiously.

According to Miles, Alvarez is extremely dedicated to the mission. “Her priority is getting high priority shipments out to the field.  Ms. Alvarez’ experience and attention to detail are instrumental in support of the transportation mission.  She established a solid rapport and works closely with the Corpus Christi Army Depot on requests for next day delivery shipments.”

Alvarez is also directly responsible for the Transportation Office processing nearly 14,000 off-base Material Release Orders in FY15 in support of CCAD and the warfighter.  “Ms. Alvarez’ ‘can-do’ attitude and jovial disposition are important assets in daily dealings with our CCAD customers, carrier representatives and many other customers,” said Miles.

As the senior transportation agent, Alvarez ensures that updates to the distribution center’s main warehousing system, Distribution Standard System, are made to the transportation load and she diligently corrects all DSS materiel release order problems for the freight and small parcel areas.

Also serving as lead transportation trainer, she provides training and mentoring to her co-workers in a vast array of tasks.  “Ms. Alvarez is the [leader] that her peers go to for help with problem solving and troubleshooting.  Supervisors and leads of other functional areas also seek out Ms. Alvarez’ expertise for technical advice regarding MROs and transportation processes,” said Miles.

Miles concluded that “Ms. Alvarez is extremely dependable, and, along with her great attitude and dedication to the mission, she is instrumental in the success of the Transportation Office.”
