DLA Distribution Operation Team’s Rozier honored at DLA 48th annual employee recognition ceremony

By DLA Distribution Public Affairs

DLA Distribution Operation Team Atlanta team member Navy Senior Chief Logistics Specialist Vascoe Rozier III was honored as the agency’s Joint Reserve Force Senior Enlisted Member of the Year during DLA’s 48th annual employee recognition ceremony Dec. 10.

Rozier, assigned to DLA Distribution Warner Robins, Ga., serves as the organization’s Senior Enlisted Leader and leading Senior Chief Petty Officer.

According to Warner Robins’ director Kent Wheeler, Rozier performed as a true deck plate leader, exemplifying the Navy core values of honor, courage and commitment.

Rozier led his team to a successful year for operational support, realizing more than $253,000 in financial impact for DLA.  Leading a team of 12 personnel to DLA Distribution Corpus Christi, Texas, to assist with workload, Rozier and his team set several records, processing over 400 pieces in a day.   Overall, the team processed more than 4,400 line and bulk items, totaling over $90 million.  Additionally, he has provided personnel for missions in Anniston, Ala., Albany, Ga., and Red River, Texas.

According to Wheeler, Rozier is fully supportive of his team.  Rozier provides CPO 365 Unit Leadership Training for all E6 personnel in the unit.  The training serves to prepare sailors for the next level as Navy Chiefs.  He also helps with rate training for all enlisted personnel by providing them study materials and emailing web links to assist in advancing their careers.

Rozier communicated with all of Distribution’s reserve senior enlisted leadership by having a monthly conference call and making sure all had a voice at the table when discussing enlisted matters.  He also prepared the agenda for the Joint Team leaders and provided notices to each commander.  As the acting command Senior Enlisted Leader, he provided the joint senior Non-Commissioned Officers with valuable information to keep their teams informed, said Wheeler.

Outside of work, Rozier is very active within his community.  An active participant with the Macon Recreation Department, he has coached in two basketball leagues for many years.  Additionally, he provides meal on the fourth Monday of every month for Angels of Mercy Ministries, volunteers for Meals on Wheels delivery to the needy during the holiday season, and tutors young, at risk males for the Kappa League in Macon, Ga.

“Chief Rozier is a mentor and a true example of a Navy Senior Chief Petty Officer,” said Wheeler.
