Defense Logistics Agency Director Air Force Lt. Gen. Andy Busch visited DLA Distribution Red River, Texas, on Dec. 18.

Busch hosted a town hall for all Red River DLA employees. Placing emphasis on the strategic plan, stating “What I want to do while I am at DLA - It’s all about the strategic plan.” By following the five goals: warfighter first, people and culture, strategic engagement, financial stewardship, process excellence; DLA as a whole will be able to provide effective and efficient global solutions to warfighters and other valued customers.

During the town hall, Busch explained to employees why and how services provide by DLA are an important part of the Department of Defense. DLA’s mission, Busch explained, is to “provide the military services and other federal agencies with logistics acquisition and technical services, including logistics information, material management, procurement, warehousing and distribution of spare parts, food, clothing, medical supplies and fuel, reutilization of surplus military material, and document automation and production.” Busch also addressed the necessity for audit readiness, explained DLA Distribution’s plan for future growth, and answered employee questions.

Additionally, Busch presented Distribution employees, Robert Abner, British Dunn, Jeffrey Ives and Denisha Gooden, with coins for their superior performance and dedication to the organization.

Busch wrapped up the town meeting, expressing his concern about making everyone as resilient as possible, and ready for the challenges ahead.

“Thank you for what you do. Our strength is in our leaders and our workforce,” concluded Busch.

After the Town Hall, Busch toured several work areas in Building 499 as well as the DLA Disposition area. A windshield tour of Major End Items and DEMIL ended the tour.

"I was very excited to have LTG Busch visit our distribution center and meet the fantastic employees that work at Red River,” said Army Lt. Col. Anthony Stoeger, Red River Commander. “We were able to share our story with him and now he has a better understanding of what we do on a daily basis to support the warfighter."
