Pearl Harbor’s Distribution Support Staff team selected for Commanders Mission Impact Award

DLA Distribution Pearl Harbor, Hawaii’s Distribution Support Staff Team was awarded the Commander’s Mission Impact – Team Award for the first quarter of fiscal year 2016.

The 11-member team is comprised of Eric Santiago, Lisa Briones, Tracy Brinson, Howard Dias, Ronnie Jenkins, Raechelle Hartford, Mary Horimoto, Sandra Fujii, Carlos Morales, James Weber and Senior Master Sgt. Christopher Bailey.                                                             

According to DLA Distribution Pearl Harbor deputy commander Thomas Dillon, the Distribution Support Staff team is diverse, with a vast array of expertise that keeps the mission moving.  “The DSS are our quiet professionals that not only execute their duties, but take the lead on numerous requirements outside of their functional areas.  To be clear, they are an indispensable part of the Distribution mission and provide unwavering world-class logistical support.”

In the past quarter, the team reinvigorated the distribution center’s Accountable Property program, synchronizing equipment and production requirements, training eight newly-assigned hand receipt holders, and conducting a 100 percent book-to-floor inventory. 

In light of high operations and personnel vacancies, the team assumed responsibility for a headquarters-directed floor-to-book inventory requirement. Overall, the group conducted approximately 1,500 inventories and assisted the Inventory Accountability Team with research, ensuring a 99 percent inventory accuracy rate.

With a focus on workforce development, the team coordinated and hosted seven onsite and online training courses, resulting in four new HAZMAT certifiers, 100 percent completion of Annual Ethics Training, and 40 hours of job specialty training.

The team also executed the distribution center’s first ever leadership off-site, hosting guest speakers and conducting leadership assessment tests, EEO briefings/training, human relations and union forums.  The off-site provided leadership tools and new communication pathways for 26 seasoned and first-time supervisors.
