RICHMOND, Virginia –
Defense Logistics Agency Aviation’s Command Support Directorate hosted a DLA Aviation mission briefing event, March 16, 2016 on Defense Supply Center Richmond, Virginia, for 20 personnel from the 192nd Supply Chain Management Squadron, Virginia Air National Guard, Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia.
The presentations focused on the Mission Impaired Capability Awaiting Parts (MICAP). Air Force Tech. Sgt. Janet Pelayo, materiel management career broadener with DLA Aviation, facilitated the briefings which included: weapon systems parts management, customer accounts and customer support specialists, demand and materiel planning, product specialist, product data support, and pre- and post-award contract actions.
The intent of the event was to educate Air National Guard attendees on DLA Aviation processes, meeting customer needs, ordering parts, and getting parts to the warfighter on time.
Pelayo said the attendees gained information to increase awareness, influence demands, and reduce future MICAP. She added they also learned how the MICAP processes work, and what attributes to delays.
After the event, Pelayo assured participants that DLA is only a phone call away and is working around the clock to get orders to the warfighter.
