DLA Distribution Bahrain welcomes new commander

Navy Supply Corps Cmdr. Erik R. Naley, assumed command of Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Bahrain, Southwest Asia, in a ceremony May 26.  The ceremony was officiated by Naval Supply Systems Command Fleet Logistics Center Bahrain commander, Navy Supply Corps Capt. Sean M. Egge.

A native of Minnetonka, Minn., Naley was commissioned through the Navy Officer Candidate School in May 1998.  Following Supply Officer Basic Qualification Course, he was assigned to the submarine USS Providence as the supply officer.  While onboard the Providence he deployed to the Mediterranean and Persian Gulf where he participated in the opening days of Operation Enduring Freedom.

Naley next served as the warehouse budget officer for Naval Special Warfare Group One, Logistics Support Unit.  His next assignment was to the submarine support ship USS Frank Cable located in Agana, Guam, as the principal assistant for Logistics.  He supported the stand up of Fleet Logistics Support Center Yokosuka Detachment Guam serving as its first director, Logistics Support Center.

In 2006, Naley attended the Naval Postgraduate School where he earned a Master of Business Administration with a focus in financial management, graduating with distinction and receiving the Conrad Scholar designation.

Following graduate school, he reported to Naval Air Systems Command where he served as a business financial manager supporting the program executive officer.  In 2010, Naley deployed to Iraq serving as an advisor to an Iraqi general officer directing Iraqi depot operations.  He then served on the US Africa Command J4 Staff as executive officer to the J4 and as the chief, Joint Logistics Operations Center, where he served as lead logistics planner in numerous named operations.

Prior to assuming his current position, he served as the Material Budget division director at Naval Supply Systems Command.  As division director, he was responsible for over $7 billion of annual obligation authority and an inventory valued at $27 billion.

His decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, the Joint Service Achievement Medal, the Navy Achievement Medal and various campaign medals and ribbons.  He is a Joint Qualified Officer, a member of the Defense Acquisition Corps, certified DAWIA Level III in Business Financial Management, certified Level II in Defense Financial Management, and a Certified Defense Financial Manager.
