Sliman assumes command of DLA Distribution Europe

United States Army Col. Zorn T. Sliman assumed command of DLA Distribution Europe in Germersheim, Germany in a June 29 ceremony officiated by DLA Distribution commander Army Brig. Gen. John S. Laskodi.  

Sliman, who took the reins from previous commander Lt. Col. Krista Hoffman, was previously stationed at the United States Army War College.

He was commissioned in 1990 through the Reserve Officer Training Corps program of Salisbury State University in Maryland. He entered active duty as a transportation officer and has served in a variety of logistics-oriented command and staff positions.   

Sliman has served in the following command and staff assignments: platoon leader, 62d Transportation Company; operations officer, 70th Ordnance Battalion, Fort Bliss, Texas; movement control officer, 1st Armored Division DISCOM; commander, Bravo Company, 123d Main Support Battalion, Dexheim, Germany; observer controller, 1-311 Infantry Regiment, Richmond, Va.; operations officer, S-4, 43d Area Support Group; division transportation officer, 7th Infantry Division; support operations officer and executive officer, 2d Brigade Support Battalion, Fort Carson, Colo.; strategic sealift officer, Military Sealift Command, Washington, D.C.; commander, Special Troops Battalion, 501st Sustainment Brigade, Camp Carroll, Korea; logistics officer, Joint Staff J4, Washington, D.C. 

Sliman is a graduate of the United States Army War College, Joint Professional Military Education II, the Command and General Staff College, the Logistics Executive Development Course, the Combined Logistics Officer Advanced Course and the Transportation Officer Basic Course.  His civilian education includes a Master of Science in Logistics Management from the Florida Institute of Technology and a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Salisbury State University.

His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal (two awards), the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Meritorious Service Medal (three awards), the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal and the Combat Action Badge.
