Customer Operations director hosts New Commanders’ Round Robin

Defense Logistics Agency Aviation’s Customer Operations director hosted a two-day New Commanders Round Robin to familiarize commanders assigned to DLA Aviation industrial support activities on key aspects of the organization and its directorates, at Defense Supply Center Richmond, Virginia, Oct. 15-16.

 

“Meeting’s like this are important because they facilitate and synchronize the mission sets of the ISAs with the supporting roles of DLA Aviation and the directorates,” said Air Force Col. John Waggoner, director, DLA Aviation Customer Operations Directorate. “The ISAs and the retail business they execute have a major impact on the services ability to sustain their fleets.”

 

The Round Robin which was set up like a roundtable briefing was the first of its kind. While DLA Aviation has hosted similar briefings in the past this particular briefing differed in the fact that it focused on ISA leadership instead of on the business generated at the ISAs.

 

The ISAs are vital to the DLA mission so it’s important for the ISA commanders to know the role they play in support of this mission.

 

“The ISA commanders work side-by-side with the services daily and must respond to a vast and rapidly changing landscape,” said Waggoner. “It’s no easy task, but it’s their leadership that enables the rest of DLA to focus its capabilities where needed.”

 

In addition to the roundtable discussions, the commanders attended one-on-one engagements with key aviation leadership.

 

“Being able to come here today and talk through many of the issues we are facing as commanders not only with our peers but also other staff members has proven to be really beneficial. I just hope we can do this again in the future,” said Air Force Col. Todd Bean, commander, DLA Aviation at Warner Robins, Robins Air Force Base, Georgia.
