Defense Supply Center Richmond, Virginia, employees came out April 10 to “pedal for prevention” in support of Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month.
Defense Logistics Agency Aviation’s Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Program planned the event in collaboration with the U.S. Army Reserve 80th Training Command - The Army School System and the Virginia National Guard to sponsor the free cycling class which was held in the DSCR Fitness Center Blue Room. The class will be held again between 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. on April 17 and April 24.
“It is a great way to burn calories all while supporting a great cause,” said Katrina Leverette, sexual assault response coordinator, Defense Logistics Agency Aviation. “Participating in this awareness event also adds 1,000 extra points to your SAAPM Virtual Fitness Challenge score.”
Leverette said Spirit Week is just around the corner, April 22-26.
“Show your spirit, get together with fellow co-workers and meet me each day in the DSCR Center Restaurant for photos at 11:30 a.m.,” she said.
April 22 - Organization Day - Anyone who is affiliated with a community service organization can wear their agency or organization paraphernalia that day (i.e. motorcycle clubs, fraternities, sororities, etc.)
April 23 - Teal Tuesday - Wear something teal, whether it is a shirt, pants, tie, scarf, hat, etc. Show your support every Tuesday in April and you may win a prize.
April 24 - Denim Day - Wear your denim to work to show support for sexual assault survivors.
April 25 - Jersey or favorite team day.
April 26 – Sport day – Annual 5K Run/Walk (hot link to registration form) will take place at 9 a.m. on the DSCR fitness trail at the gazebo at the bottom of the hill. DLA Aviation commander has authorized administrative leave to all aviation employees who wanted to participate.
