Name: Joan Davis-Adams

Organization: DLA Aviation, Customer Operations Directorate, Air Force Customer Facing Division

Years of Service: 23 years.

What is your job title, and what do you do, specifically?  I serve as a customer account specialist. I support the warfighter by entering and reviewing orders. I also monitor, research and provide customer feedback with status of delivery.

What would you say has been your major contribution(s) to your organization this year in your job? The year 2020 was a challenge for everyone.  Our team lost several experienced people for various reasons.  The pandemic forced us to go into maximum telework which halted in-person training.  I am proud to say I was able to train new employees by utilizing Skype and Microsoft Teams.  It has been a different challenge, but my ability to train virtually continues to keep our mission of “Warfighter Always” going.

What aspect(s) of your current job gives you the most personal satisfaction?  Why? As a customer account specialist, I am engaged with the customer daily. I keep “warfighter is always first” in mind as I perform my duties. When a customer emails me with a simple thank you at the end of the day, I go home feeling that I have truly helped the customer and his mission.

If you could speak directly to the warfighters you support, what would you tell them? I would let them know how much I appreciate the job they perform in protecting our country. There is not a debt I can repay for the service they provide to our nation daily.  No matter how big or small their job, they are all heroes to me.

Do you have an unfulfilled wish? Yes, I would like to learn how to play the piano and roller skate.

What is the most surprising/unexpected thing others don’t know about you? I am quiet and reserved but when it comes to my work ethic, I am willing to speak out about ways to improve situations that can support the warfighter better.

What’s your biggest pet peeve? Unfairness and poor treatment. I like for people to be fair.  Treat people like you want to be treated.

If you had a theme song, what would it be and why? My theme song for now would be “America the Beautiful” because God has truly shed His grace on thee.

If you could pick a personal motto, what would it be?  Be the best you can be.  Everyone can’t be famous, but everyone can always help someone else.
