Navy Lt. Jill Corrales, retail manager at Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Cherry Point, N.C., was awarded the DLA Company Grade Officer of the Year award at the 48th annual employee recognition ceremony Dec. 10, for working closely with the Fleet Readiness Center-East, 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing and other units onboard Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point to support the warfighter and ensure combat readiness.

DLA director Air Force Lt. Gen. Andy Busch, along with Distribution’s commander Army Brig. Gen. Richard Dix were on hand to present the award.

“Lt. Corrales’ performance has been indispensable in audit readiness, the Disposition to Distribution merger, and the consolidation of several retail stores to increase efficiency and overall effectiveness,” said Kevin Taylor, the Cherry Point’s director.  “The retail metrics show evidence of outstanding logistics support to both local and worldwide customers.”

As the retail manager, Corrales oversees more than $120 million worth of material.  Her team consolidated five retail stores within the last year, improving customer service and accuracy through identifying material and integrating items into a single location.

Corrales also serves as the audit readiness officer, where she worked closely with the retail team to implement Job Breakdown Sheets, which proved vital to a successful cross-training program.

“Lt. Corrales’ commitment to her team, customers, and DLA Distribution is unmatched,” said Taylor.  “Her positive attitude, honesty, and excellent communication skills inspire others and generate enthusiasm in the workplace and build excellent relationships with our customers.”
