In his first command outreach visit to the Texas triangle region, Defense Logistics Agency Energy Commander Air Force Brig. Gen. Albert Miller recognized Houston and San Antonio employees, Jan. 14-17.

During the visit, Miller reinforced supplier relations meeting with local suppliers to strengthen partnerships and strategic relationships in the region.

“During this outreach trip, my focus was on employee and industry engagement,” Miller said. “To recognize the hard work done every day to build our relationship with Warfighters and industry partners. My hope is to engage in an open discussion, gather feedback and use that feedback to drive internal change.”

Miller met with DLA Energy employees sharing important command updates, presenting awards, and thanking them for their Warfighter support.

At DLA Energy Americas East in Houston, Miller recognized several DLA Energy Americas employees for earning the Commander's High Octane Awards. The Commander's High Octane Award is used to recognize an individual or team for a significant act or a period of sustained performance related to their duties. While it does not replace any formal awards, it is a means to acknowledge a job well done.

The awards were given to Lorraine Gallagher, Pete Martinez, Gabriel Tarango and the Movements Under Investigation Process Team including Matt Berry, Chris Bordelon, Donald Gaddy, Marlin Ingram, Allison Jackson, Aaron Kennedy, George Medeiros, Doug Moehle, DeAnn Nguyen, Robert Sawyer, Howard Snider, John Stublar, Lisa Stublar, Roger Sudtelgte, Gabe Tarango, Calvin Williams and Josh Zehler.

The commander presented his command coin to Houston employees Michael Alessandro, Jerry Allen, Raul Garcia, Shona Lawrence and Donna Robertson for their contributions sustaining DLA Energy missions.

During his visit to DLA Energy Aerospace in San Antonio, Miller presented Commander's Flying High Awards. Similar to the Commander's High Octane Award, the Flying High Award is presented to Aerospace employees for significant accomplishments. Londres Medranda and Will Ramseur earned Flying High Awards and a High Octane Award went to Lorraine Gallagher.

Aerospace employees presented with command coin included Pat Canales, Ida Elizondo, Robert Gloria, Mike Miller, Shonda Rizo, Maria Rodriguez and Jorge Valdez-Meza.

“Americas East appreciates the opportunity to have the DLA Energy Commander visit the team to recognize their hard work and engage with some of our corporate partners,” said DLA Energy Americas East Commander Army Lt. Col. Julian Perez. “It’s great to have a commander who takes time to visit his team and engage with our corporate partners, strengthening the partnerships we share.”
