Dr. Daryl Fraser, associate professor in teaching, Virginia Commonwealth University School of Social Works, was the featured speaker for the Juneteenth celebration held in the atrium outside of the Defense Logistics Agency Aviation Operations Center cafeteria on Defense Supply Center Richmond, Virginia, June 19, 2019. Juneteenth is celebrated on June 19 every year and is the oldest known celebration honoring the end of slavery in the United States. It commemorates the freeing of black slaves two years after President Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation on Jan. 1, 1863.
