DLA Aviation supporting Navy's RAST system
A Navy MH-60S Seahawk helicopter assigned to the "Golden Falcons" of Helicopter Sea Combat (HSC) 12 prepares to land on the flight deck of the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Curtis Wilbur (DDG 54) during flight operations in the Pacific Ocean Nov. 10, 2020. The Navy is working with Defense Logistics Agency Aviation in Richmond, Virginia to provide a green/sustainable alternative to maintaining the Recovery Assist, Secure and Traverse system’s plate coating on all Arleigh Burke class ships. The RAST uses a cart to safely secure the aircraft to the ship’s deck and transfer them to the hangar bay.
