Security and Emergency Services provides the Defense Supply Center Columbus with security and protection of life, property and environment from natural and manmade hazards, and from criminal or terrorist situations. Security and Emergency Services provides customer focused services as our number one priority and, when called, we will respond with proud and professional, highly trained personnel.

Visit the Security and Emergency Services Sharepoint site (CAC-enabled) that is available to all personnel on the DSCC Installation. This site contains information about each function within Security and Emergency Services (Police, Fire & EMS, Pass & ID, Antiterrorism, Emergency Management, Criminal Intelligence, Physical Security), current policies and regulations, current forms, contact information, answers to frequently asked questions and other pertinent information.

Defense Supply Center Columbus Visitor Information

Defense Supply Center Columbus has a Visitor Control Center and Pass & ID Office located in Building 61 to the right of the main access control point. 

BASE STATUS ANNOUNCEMENTS: 

The Main ACP (N. Yearling Gate) is fully operational and the sole entry for privately owned/non-commercial vehicles 24/7.

The James Road Gate operations is only for inbound truck/commercial vehicles. Outbound traffic is allowed for all vehicles 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday – Friday, except holidays.

The Pedestrian/Bicycle Gate (3990 Broad Street) is the sole entry/exit for pedestrian/bicycles 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday – Friday, except Holidays. After hours and Holiday pedestrian/bicycle access can be accommodated on a case-by-case basis by calling  614-692-3875.

PLEASE NOTE: Construction on Broad Street near the Pedestrian Gate in the summer months will temporarily change traffic patterns, but the plan is to maintain one lane in/one to the gate during construction. This work has been coordinated with COTA.

CAC Card Credential Issuance requires a one day advance notice. Our Pass and ID office is a civilian operation and provides all ID card and Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS) services that are not prohibited by regulation. The Department of Defense Acceptable Identity Documents are as follows:

Department of Defense List of Acceptable Identity Documents

Applicants are required to provide two forms of identity source documents in original form. The identity source documents must be bound to that applicant and shall be neither expired nor cancelled. If the two identity source documents bear different names, evidence of a formal name change must be provided.

Primary Identity Source Document

  • U.S. Passport or a U.S. Passport Card;
  • Permanent Resident Card or an Alien Registration Receipt Card (Form I-551);
  • Foreign passport;
  • Employment Authorization Document that contains a photograph (Form I-766);
  • Driver's license or an identification (ID) card issued by a state or possession of the United States provided it contains a photograph;
  • U.S. Military ID card;
  • U.S. Military dependent's ID card; or
  • Personal Identity Verification (PIV) Card.

Secondary Identity Source Document; The secondary identity source document may be from the list above but cannot be of the same type as the primary identity source document. An expired Common Access Card (CAC) or Uniformed Services Identification (USID) card may be used as a secondary identity source document for reissuance of the same type of identification card but is not acceptable for initial issuance.

  • U.S. Social Security Card issued by the Social Security Administration;
  • Original or certified copy of a birth certificate issued by a state, county, municipal authority, possession, or outlying possession of the United States bearing an official seal;
  • ID card issued by a federal, state, or local government agency or entity, provided it contains a photograph;
  • Voter's registration card;
  • U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Mariner Card;
  • Certificate of U.S. Citizenship (Form N-560 or N-561);
  • Certificate of Naturalization (Form N-550 or N-570);
  • U.S. Citizen ID Card (Form I-197);
  • Identification Card for Use of Resident Citizen in the United States (Form I-179);
  • Certification of Birth Abroad or Certification of Report of Birth issued by the Department of State (Form FS-545 or Form DS-1350);
  • Temporary Resident Card (Form I-688);
  • Employment Authorization Card (Form I-688A);
  • Reentry Permit (Form I-327);
  • Refugee Travel Document (Form I-571);
  • Employment authorization document issued by Department of Homeland Security (DHS);

  • Foreign ID with photograph;
  • Driver's license issued by a Canadian government entity;
  • Native American tribal document; or
  • Foreign Birth Certificate with certified English translation (USID ONLY).

DBIDS Pre-enrollment site

Visitor Enrollment site  (CAC enabled)

All visitors to DSCC that do not possess a Defense Department identification card must be processed through the Visitor Control Center (weekends by DSCC Police) or escorted by a DOD ID card holder.

There are two types of visitors authorized on DSCC, escorted and unescorted.

Escorted visitors must present either a valid REAL ID-compliant state-issued identification, a valid U.S. passport, or a valid passport from other countries cleared by the State Department. A maximum of five visitors per escort are permitted and they can be in the same vehicle with the person performing escort duty, or in one follow-on vehicle.

Unescorted visitors will be registered in the Defense Biometric Identification System Pre-Enrollment website and the Visitor Notification System. Any CAC or Uniformed Services ID holder can sponsor a visitor for unescorted access.

Unescorted visitors must use the DBIDS pre-enrollment website  and enter their information. Each visitor must print or download the confirmation which contains a six-digit number and send a copy of the confirmation to the sponsor and have it in their possession upon entering the installation.

Sponsors will then register the visitors they sponsor by using the VNS enrollment module  (CAC enabled) .

Acceptable Forms of ID for DoD/DLA Installations:

The following forms of identification will be accepted for access to DLA and other DoD installations:

  • DOD Common Access Cards (CACs)
  • DOD Uniformed Services ID Cards (including military retiree and dependent IDs)
  • Local DOD Access Cards and Passes (e.g., DBIDS cards, visitor passes)
  • Real ID-compliant driver’s licenses, enhanced driver’s licenses, or non-driver’s identification cards
  • U.S. or foreign passports or passport cards
  • Transportation Worker Identification Credentials (TWIC)
  • Veteran’s Health Identification Cards (VHIC)
  • Federal Personal Identity Verification (PIV) cards
  • Non-federal PIV-interoperable cards

First-Time Visitors and Expired Passes:

First-time visitors and personnel with expired passes must register their Real ID (or other acceptable form of ID) online or at their local Visitor Control Center before arriving at the installation. Pre-approval requests can be submitted to expedite this process. Please contact your local Visitor Control Center for details.

 Visitors Without Real ID:

Visitors who do not present a Real ID-compliant credential or an acceptable alternative will be denied unescorted access to DLA/DoD installations.
