DLA Public Affairs

The DLA Public Affairs Office provides communications support to all aspects of the Defense Logistics Agency. The office helps communicate how the Defense Department’s only combat logistics support agency provides resources to our nation’s men and women serving in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Space Force, at home and abroad. Public Affairs keeps the public and other government departments and agencies like Interior, Coast Guard, the Army Corps of Engineers, Forestry and Homeland Security up to date on services DLA offers and provides to them. DLA strives to keep its employees and the general public informed on the most current information regarding logistic support worldwide.

See the Defense Information School's list of policy and doctrine documents for the documents that guide the overall Defense Department Public Affairs mission, as well as the department's Principles of Information for background on information made available to the public.

DLA Research & Development: Revolutionizing Firefighting with Graphite Technology (emblem, open caption)

  • Defense Logistics Agency
  • Jan. 7, 2025 | 5:15

PFAS, which stands for per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, are synthetic chemicals often found in firefighting foam and are considered harmful because they are highly persistent in the environment, do not break down easily, and have been linked to a range of health concerns making their presence in firefighting foam a major environmental contaminant. The Defense Logistics Agency is the Nation's Logistics Combat Support Agency and its Research and Development team manages projects related to new technologies. They work very closely with industry and academia to bring innovative solutions to difficult issues. The Flake Graphite project could revolutionize military and civilian firefighting using graphite technology. The goal of this project is to develop and test new chemistries and foam formulations with the intent to come up with a PFAS free, environmentally friendly and highly effective fire-fighting foam.
