All material shipped to a DLA distribution center or directly to a DLA customer are required to have MIL-STD-129 identification markings. MIL-STD-129 provides detailed instructions and illustrations for the information required on each unit package, intermediate package, and exterior pack. Pallet Type Visual Aid Video

This video shows the correct pallet type and heat- treatment stamp to help vendors ensure they are meeting DLA’s requirements. For many reasons, DLA requires palletized material to be shipped on 4-Way Wing-Tipped pallets specified in DLA TQ Requirement RP001. DLA also has a requirement for the pallet to be heat-treated with a stamp indication such, or the shipment cannot be accepted.

Shelf Life Visual Aid Video

This video describes the process when your contract award contains a shelf-life requirement. It is important to use the correct shelf-life format on the packaging labels and to use the shelf-life time periods identified on the award. There are two shelf-life types, Type I and Type II. The required dates can be entered into the Vendor Shipment Module (VSM) when creating labels for your shipments to DLA. Examples of materials with a shelf life include tires, batteries, and fluid filters.
