Europe distribution center to welcome new deputy commander

Neil G. Flanagan joins the Defense Logistics Agency Distribution team Aug. 30, to serve as deputy commander, DLA Distribution Europe in Germersheim, Germany.

“Neil is no stranger to Distribution. His current assignment is Operations Director of Wholesale for DLA Distribution Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. Serving in this role since January 2020, Neil was responsible for distribution operations for all 272 Hawaii based customers and transitioning battle groups,” said Marine Corps Brig. Gen. Keith D. Reventlow, commanding general of DLA Distribution.

Prior to joining federal service, Flanagan had a successful career in the private sector. His most recent experience was owning and running a men’s fashion e-commerce website in Thailand for 17 years.

Before moving to Thailand, Flanagan was the director of Operations for Emser Tile & Natural Stone, where he managed all distribution operations nationwide. Flanagan’s other previous positions include associate director of Inventory Operations at Verizon Wireless and director of Inventory Control for

Flanagan’s military service was in the Marine Corps and Marine Corps Reserves, where he served in the Infantry, Reconnaissance and Force Reconnaissance. Flanagan was a distinguished graduate of the Amphibious Reconnaissance Course at Naval Air Base Coronado, California. He is also a graduate of U.S. Army Airborne School; U.S. Navy Dive School; U.S. Marine Corps Combat Diver Transition Course; U.S. Navy SERE School and the Los Angeles Police Department SWAT Operator Course. Flanagan also earned his U.S. Navy and Marine Corps Parachutist Badge. Additionally, Flanagan was selected 1st Marine Division NCO of the Quarter and the Force Reconnaissance Association’s 1996 Team Leader of the Year for Detachment 4th Force Reconnaissance Company.
