DLA Distribution Commanding General delivers Labor Day message

By DLA Distribution Public Affairs

As we approach the Labor Day holiday weekend, an annual celebration of workers and their achievements, I’d like to take the time to thank you for your incredible support to our critical mission. It’s hard to believe we’ve been operating in a COVID-19 environment for the past year and a half. We haven’t missed a beat. Each mission, each task, completed safely and with utmost precision. While we’re dispersed around the globe, we’ve worked side-by-side to make this happen. I thank each and every one of you for being “all in.”

With a rise in COVID-19 case rates in the areas surrounding almost every one of our distribution centers, I ask that you remain vigilant. Worldwide cases recently reached over 216 million, and the United States reports over 39 million cases. I want to remind you all that we haven’t seen the end of the pandemic. Continue to take steps to help avoid the spread of COVID-19. Stay home if you are sick and notify your supervisor. Call your doctor if you develop a fever, cough or difficulty breathing. Lastly, I recommend one more layer of protection by getting vaccinated.

As summer comes to an end and the school year begins with States and school districts implementing safety measures to protect students, faculty, and administration, I know that many of you will juggle multiple commitments and the work/life balance may become challenging. I ask that you take time to recharge your batteries as needed -- it’s important for you and your family.

Mr. Knight and I want to thank you for your hard work and dedication. Get some rest, be safe this Labor Day holiday and keep safety in mind in everything you do.

Finally, I ask that you keep our deployed Soldiers, Marines, Sailors, Airmen, Guardians and their families in your thoughts not only during the upcoming holiday weekend, but each and every day.
