Sue Collins

Procurement Analyst
Battle Creek, Michigan

Describe your job in a sentence or two. What do you do specifically?  I provide support to the Contracting Directorate and to the field.  My job title is Procurement Analyst and I monitor the Federal Procurement Data System, alternate Government Purchase Card, agency/organization program coordinator, training coordinator, security representative and small business program representative.

How long have you worked for DLA Disposition Services?  All 36 years of my federal service.

What is your favorite memory with DLA Disposition Services?  All the awesome people I’ve been so fortunate to have met and worked with and the friends I’ve made along the way.  I think back over the many years I’ve been with the government and that’s what stands out.

What aspect of your current job gives you the most personal satisfaction and why?  Providing support and assistance to my coworkers and knowing we are all supporting the warfighter.  That’s what it’s all about.

What is the best piece of advice someone has given you?  Stay true to yourself.

What kind of training and education helps your work performance in your current role?  In the Contracting 1102 career field we have mandatory Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act training and education requirements we must complete.  I have completed all requirements and am Level 2 DAWIA certified.

If you could speak directly to the warfighters you support, what would you tell them?  We’re here to support you in any way we can.  Thank you for your service and all that you do to keep us safe.

Where do you see yourself five years from now?  Retired.

What was your first job?  GS-2, Clerk-typist, in the Personnel Office.

Name your favorite/recent book(s) you have read.  Anything by James Patterson.  The last one I read was “Judge and Jury.”

What is your favorite quote? “Be the things you loved most about the people who are gone.” – Unknown

What did you want to be when you grew up?  Out of high school, I planned on being a legal secretary.

Who is your hero?  My dad, who has passed.  He was the kindest person I know and never had a bad word to say about anyone.

Tracy Hart, director of DLA Disposition Services Contracting Directorate said, “Sue is a stellar employee and I’m glad she is being highlighted.  She is very low key, tries to stay out of the limelight and does an outstanding job!”
