What do you do?
I am a Material Examiner and Identifier. As Grafenwoehr is a small site, I do what is needed to help out. I am currently learning eDOCs to support.
How long have you worked for the U.S. government, including military service?
My first job was in 1983 at the Officer’s Club on Tower Barracks. I moved to RSSA Vilseck in 1986. In 1989, I started working for DLA as a warehouse worker. I took a 7-year break to look after my three children. I returned in 2000 and started working again for DLA at 25 hours a week doing inputs and WebDocs. I now work full time for DLA Disposition Services.
How long with DLA Disposition Services?
31 years.
Any favorite DLA memories?
My favorite time with my work colleagues has been the Thanksgiving and Christmas parties where we can be together.
What aspect(s) of your current job gives you the most personal satisfaction and why?
I have been asked to beautify our site by planting flowers and shrubs all over the site making everyone feel more at home. It makes me happy to see the smiles on everyone’s faces when they see how wonderful our site is.
Where do you see yourself five years from now?
Unfortunately, I won't be here in five years since I have reached my retirement age.
What will you remember about working for DLA?
Getting to know the customers when they came to the site. I have created good working relationships with those that have come to the site over the years.
Things you enjoy outside of work?
I like to work in my garden and spend time with my family.
If you could choose to do anything for a day, what would it be?
I would travel the world to all the famous areas.
