Name: Robert (Eric) Neumann

Organization: DLA Aviation at Cherry Point

Years of Service: 17 years

What is your job title, and what do you do, specifically? I’m a general supply specialist. I research a variety of supply problems, questions, or conditions associated with material support and evaluate potential methods to improve material deliveries. I assist customer support specialists as necessary to fulfill customer orders as expeditiously as possible. I evaluate customer needs in relation to DLA services to identify and elevate those material needs to meet our customer’s mission requirements.

What aspect(s) of your current job gives you the most personal satisfaction and why?  Being part of a great team that works well together - team that pulls together everyone’s strengths to discover solutions that improve on our customer’s expectations. While we often don’t get the chance to see the end product go out the door, there is a great sense of satisfaction in knowing that the team plays a big role in our customer’s successes.

What do you see as your biggest challenge right now? Discovering solutions that will resolve post COVID challenges.

What are your best practices for achieving goals or accomplishing tasks? Stay organized. Prioritize. Get things done before they are due (Early is the new On Time).

What are some of your passions outside of work? I enjoy surfing, playing bass guitar and watching my grandkids compete in their sporting events.

Who is the most influential person in your life...past or present and why?  The most influential person in my life is my wife. My desire to live the rest of my life with her greatly outweighed my inclination to be an idiot. Where I was likely to end up without her would not have been any good.

What is your proudest accomplishment and why? If I say so myself, I raised two pretty awesome daughters who in turn, have raised some really awesome grandkids.
