Richmond, Va. –
Defense Logistics Agency employees from Defense Supply Center Richmond, Virginia spread holiday cheer by providing gifts for 129 Chesterfield County and City of Richmond students through the Angel Tree program Dec. 6.
The event was coordinated virtually for the third year in a row by Natalie Skelton, Defense Logistics Agency Aviation’s public affairs specialist. “I’ve enjoyed every year, as much as the last, to see how generous and self-less the employees are. COVID-19 hasn’t interfered one bit – this program is going strong and it’s humbling to watch how far our folks will go to bring Christmas to other families in need,” she said.
Employees from the DLA Aviation’s Public Affairs Office, Safety Office, and DLA Installation Management Richmond’s Fire Department all worked together for a merry gift drop-off by employees and gift pick-up by Bellwood, Bensley and Reid Elementary Schools as well as Meadowbrook High School.
Collection and distribution of the gifts to the schools were spearheaded by DLA Installation Management Richmond’s Fire and Emergency Services, in conjunction with the Fire Department’s holiday safety campaign.
While participants dropped off gifts, firefighters shared their holiday safety message by providing recipients with fire safety literature.
