RICHMOND, Va. –
Air Force Col. Jason Okumura relinquished command of Defense Logistics Agency Aviation at Ogden to Air Force Col. Ernest “Nest” Cage during a change of command ceremony June 30 held on Hill Air Force Base in Ogden, Utah.
DLA Aviation Commander Air Force Brig. Gen. Sean Tyler officiated the ceremony.
Tyler praised Okumura on the outstanding job he did in the short amount of time he served as Ogden’s commander.
“It’s certainly a bittersweet day today, I would say,” Tyler said. “Jason will depart after what I can only imagine has been an extremely quick year of service for him and his family. A testament of his leadership ability, he was selected to serve as an Air Force group commander this summer, so he will depart after about a year in the seat. Jason has had a tremendous impact on Ogden and he will surely be missed. We will miss his contributions and his presence and wish him and his family all the best in the coming days.”
Tyler also presented Okumura with the Defense Meritorious Service Medal as his end of tour award.
Cage takes over command after serving as a National Defense fellow at the Center for New American Security, a Washington, D.C. based think-tank. He also served as the deputy executive assistant to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the nations highest ranking officer and military advisor to the president.
“To the men and women of DLA and the entire Aviation Logistics family here at Hill, please know this, I operate with three things in mind: mission always, people first and preparing for the future,” Cage said. “We will work hard together, continuing to build the legacy that you all have already started.”
