NEW CUMBERLAND, Pa. –
Defense Logistics Agency Distribution briefed Bruce Blank, incoming DLA Indo-Pacific deputy commander, Aug. 8 about the role, skills and logistics knowledge DLA Distribution brings to warfighter support.
“The modernization efforts of our network are going to provide the resiliency needed for contingency in your future area of operations,” said Perry Knight, deputy commander, DLA Distribution.
One of the areas addressed in the briefing was manpower and workforce concerns. The global distribution expeditionary contract gives DLA Distribution rapid, agile capabilities to expand sustainment capabilities as needed.
As a geographic combatant command, U.S. Indo-Pacific Command is in charge of using and integrating Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps forces within the Indo-Pacom area of responsibility to achieve national security objectives while protecting national interests.
As part of the briefing, DLA Distribution leaders demonstrated how a data driven approach has shown material can continue to flow into the hands of warfighters in the Indo-Pacom region through any contingency.
The future implementation of the warehouse management system across the DLA Distribution network will allow commanders globally, and within Indo-Pacom, to have a real time virtual view of material essential to the functions of the warfighter.
DLA Indo-Pacific provides a unified DLA interface for warfighters throughout the Indo-Pacom area of responsibility, integrating DLA support within the region and reaching back to other DLA activities in the continental U.S. for logistics solutions.
