National Disability Employment Awareness Month – Vanessa E. Vega-Torres

By Wendy Arevalo, DLA Aviation Public Affairs

Editor’s Note: October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month, an effort to confirm the federal government’s commitment to ensuring disabled workers have access to good jobs, every month of every year.

Name:  Vanessa E. Vega-Torres

Organization: DLA Aviation at Jacksonville Customer Operations Demand Planner

Years of service at DLA? 21 years

What is your job title, and what do you do?  My job is to analyze historical demand data and forecast customer demand to predict sale trends and help make inventory decisions.

How do you support the warfighter? Creating a good demand plan for the future so the customer has the parts they need when they need it.

The theme for the 2024 National Disability Employment Awareness Month is “Access to Good Jobs for All.” In your words, briefly explain what this means to you?  Having access to an environment of acceptance no matter what kind of disability a person might have.  We all have something valuable to give.

Tell us something unique about you. I love helping others and being part of the team!  Love singing and dancing.

What is one thing you'd like others to know about individuals with a disability?  We are fighters; resilient people that keep pushing; and although our body hurts, the show must go on!

What are you most proud of? My family. They are my inspiration and what keeps me going forward.
