NEW CUMBERLAND, Pa. –
In an effort to inspire some friendly competition and teambuilding, Defense Logistics Agency Installation Management at Susquehanna’s Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation Susquehanna, and Riverview Golf Course hosted the 2024 Susquehanna Cup golf tournament Sept. 27 in New Cumberland.
The Susquehanna Cup is held every two years with teams comprised of personnel from DLA Distribution headquarters and DLA Distribution, Susquehanna, Pennsylvania, pitted against each other. The DLA Distribution headquarters team, captained by Bret Speese, won the title in 2022.
“This is a rivalry that goes back around 20 years,” said Speese, supply management specialist, DLA Distribution. “The cup is played in Ryder Cup format and gives the winner bragging rights for the next two years, all in fun.”
George Vasiloff led the DLA Distribution, Susquehanna, Pennsylvania, team, and looked to overturn the reigning champions.
“All of the matches were very competitive, but as they made the turn for the back nine holes, it looked like the DLA Distribution headquarters team was going to easily retain the cup,” said Joshua Wakefield, general manager, Riverview Golf Course. “However, the DLA Distribution, Susquehanna team staged a furious rally on the back nine.”
The DLA Distribution, Susquehanna team’s efforts fell short, and the DLA Distribution headquarters team retained the Susquehanna Cup.
“Congratulations to the headquarters team on their hard fought victory, and thank you to all of the competitors who played,” Wakefield said. “We love to hold these events here at Riverview Golf Course.”
