By DLA Aviation at Jacksonville

Defense Logistics Agency Aviation at Jacksonville hosted its annual command picnic May 29 at Marina Cove Pavilion, fostering teamwork and camaraderie among its workforce.

The event drew a large crowd from across the DLA enterprise, including representatives from Distribution, Disposition Services and Document Services.

The picnic was a success, providing a relaxed environment for employees to connect and build relationships outside the office. Activities encouraged interaction and collaboration. A highlight was the dunk tank, where Aviation at Jacksonville employees Navy Cmdr. Chris Harvey, director; Damon Heemstra, planning chief; and Kendrick Brown, material planner, took a plunge at the amusement of their colleagues.

Friendly competition was also on display during the cornhole tournament, which was won by Noel Magsakay and Jim DiSalvo from Aviation. Later, the karaoke contest showcased hidden talents. Jay Cruz from Disposition Services stole the show with his captivating performance and was crowned the top winner for this category.

A potluck lunch, where employees showcased their culinary skills with a variety of dishes, added to the festive atmosphere. Games and activities were available for all ages. More than 20 employees volunteered to ensure the event ran smoothly.

Employees of the Month Alicia Foster, Jose Fuentes and Rena Greene were recognized for their hard work and dedication during the picnic.

“This picnic is a vital part of building a strong and cohesive team,” Harvey said. “It’s a chance for us to connect on a personal level, strengthen relationships and foster a sense of unity across the different departments within the DLA Enterprise."
