Learn how DLA keeps warfighters fed in ‘Behind the Bite’

By DLA Public Affairs

Feeding the nation’s warfighters is a job that spans the globe. Whether it’s in the field, on a ship or in a dining facility, millions of troops need nutritious food to stay mission ready.

The story of how the Defense Logistics Agency gets food to 1.5 million warfighters around the world is told in the new “Behind the Bite” video.

The video highlights the importance of getting food to warfighters and the supply chain that gets the job done: DLA Troop Support Subsistence.

With a mission to provide the strength that fuels the force, the subsistence supply chain provides food to base dining facilities, ship galleys, forward operating locations and more.

DLA also supplies a full line of equipment for preparing food in galleys, dining facilities and in the field.

The DLA Troop Support Subsistence team delivers millions of pounds of food every year to keep forces mission ready. This includes holiday meals, which allow troops to enjoy a taste of home at Thanksgiving and Christmas. This year, troops around the world received over 380,000 pounds of traditional food in time for the Thanksgiving holiday.
